jaxtobias Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 I need a hotel room pre-cruise for Fri, Jan 5 and am trying to get a 4* in downtown Miami (only). What is the best strategy? Would like to keep around $100-125. When I searched regular Priceline for 4* in what I thought was the downtown area, other 4*'s also came up like Wyndham & Conrad, but in Coconut Grove, which I don't want. My ultimate goal is the Intercontinental, but fear that may be slim chance. Any advice? Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ regarding using the 'retail' version of priceline to assist in the 'opaque' version.Have you looked at rates for the date above? Both the Inter-Continental and the Hyatt are both well over $300/nite, so i would think success at your current maximum bid would be low.If you want to try anyway (no harm in doing so) let us know if you would like to set your maximum bid at $100 or $125 (or higher based upon your alternate options for a hotel room thru direct channels) and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. jaxtobias Posted October 16, 2006 Author Report Posted October 16, 2006 Yes, I have seen the rates that are all sky-high for that date. I was however, able to put in a "request" on EasyClickTravel and it came up the Intercontinental (thanks to reverse lookup!), so hopefully I will get lucky and it will slip through. (sorry for separate post). Regarding strategy, my max would be anything less than $200, but will I still risk getting the Hyatt instead of the Intercontinental? Is it even possible to pinpoint the IC, at any price, on either Hotwire OR Priceline? From other posts, it seems Hotwire may be my better chance? Thanks
thereuare Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Glad the EasyClickTravel Off the Record look-up tool worked well for you.You should hear back from them within 72 hours (stated as 48 hours but reality is that 72 hours is more the norm) and we'll then take your bidding, if necessary, from there. jaxtobias Posted October 18, 2006 Author Report Posted October 18, 2006 Hooray! I received my confirmed reservation for the Miami Intercontinental for Jan 5, 2007 for $182.70 ($206.50 total) - instead of the $349 on their website and others. Obviously I would like to get this hotel for anything less, but dont want to risk getting the Hyatt or other 4* (if any) instead. Should I even bother trying? Thx much.
thereuare Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Great news!Does indeed look like a fantastic rate for this date.If you'd be disappointed with the other hotels than i would stick with what you have.Enjoy your stay.
