zbenye Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Check-In Date: Friday, October 13, 2006 Check-Out Date: Saturday, October 14, 2006 Hotel Name: Courtyard By Marriott Oakland Richmond Berkeley3150 Garrity Way San Pablo, California 94806 Your Offer Price: $50.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $13.67 Total Charges: $63.67 First bid of $45 2* in San Pablo was rejected.$109 on the hotel's website.I couldn't figure out what Priceline region this is in. I entered San Pablo, CA for city, and was offered the zones San Pablo, Richmond, Pinole and El Cerrito. What a strange name for a hotel - with three city names in its title yet it resides in neither...
thereuare Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 I think it was WillTravel who previously wrote Priceline regarding zones that don't offer maps, and the response was that when no map is shown then the property will be within the city limits, so i'm assuming that "San Pablo" is the correct zone for this property. Did you select the other zone(s) as well when bidding?Speaking of strange names... i was thinking the other day about the Best Western chain and although the names don't appear to be contradictory (as the above does), i wondered who comes up with some of their choices (BW Loyal Inn, BW Thunderbird, etc)Thanks for the post and enjoy your stay.EDIT TO ADD: interesting that the priceline confirm info you posted above puts this property in San Pablo, the Marriott website puts it in Berkeley (which gives the title a credibility):3150 Garrity WayRichmond , CA 94806 Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
zbenye Posted October 14, 2006 Author Report Posted October 14, 2006 I guess this happens in areas that share zip code or are right on the boundary between two cities. Like when I lived in Voorhees NJ, some mail I got was addressed to me in Kirkwood NJ. Different companies derive city names from zip codes using different zip databases.Berkeley is quite a few cities away from this hotel so having Berkeley is really false pretense.Yes, I did begin the process by entering San Pablo for destination city, and then picking the San Pablo zone. There were four zones shown but no region name. Usually zones are grouped under a region name, such as the neighboring "Oakland/East Bay" region. After San Pablo alone failed, I added Pinole.
AztecWolverine Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 This Courtyard is about halfway between San Pablo and Pinole centers. San Pablo is a couple miles north of Richmond and El Cerrito, and they are, in turn, 5 miles + north of Berkeley. Google puts the zip in San Pablo, CA (94806-1983). AAA TourBook lists it in Richmond, even though they have a separate listing for San Pablo!! Probably because of the population differential -- 100,000 vs. 30,000. The hotel is less than 5 miles north of the El Cerrito BART station, so it is an option for San Fran visitors...There is parking at the BART station, but I don't think the hotel will shuttle you there.
