Rates in this area are usually closer to $50+ than the low $40's... i would consider raising your bids a bit.

I thought that I would start very low just to get the hang of Priceline bidding.

Current 3* Hotwire rate for this zone is $62 (though it was $61 last night!)

The change in HOTWIRE rates is not indicative of a change in supply/demand... they fluctuate their price by a few dollars in order to increase opactity.

No kidding! Tonight they are $59.

After being rejected at $40,42,44, I waited 24 hrs and started bidding at $50.

Guess I should have started a little lower?

Oh, well, not bad since retail site shows $158. I'll even be able to afford the $16 parking charge.
