This is my first post on betterbidding.com. Please let me know if I am doing this incorrectly. I need help on a bidding strategy to secure a 2, 2.5, 3-star hotel in the following areas for the following days. Check-in = 10/7/06 Check-out = 10/9/06.

Newark-Meadowlands (Secaucus - North Bergen)

Newark-Meadowlands (EWR - Newark Airport)

Newark-Meadowlands (Elizabeth)

Saddlebrook - Teaneck (Saddlebrook - Hasbrouck Heights)

Saddlebrook - Teaneck (Paramus - Hackensack)

I have no real priority between the above mentioned locations. Price/bargain is definitely the biggest priority. A 2.5 star property would be ideal, but not a must.

Please let me know what areas I should select and what price to begin bidding and what star hotel to begin with and a strategy for rebids given the reality that a rejected bid should happen.

Thanks so much.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

What is your maximum bid? (we wouldn't want to suggest a strategy that went higher than you wanted to spend)

Can we ask the purpose of this trip? I know this area very well and the zones you've mentioned above cover a VERY LARGE area... just want to make sure you get an area that serves your needs well.

Are you willing to spend more for a 3* property over a 2.5* or is price the most important and you'd simply prefer the least expensive property given your minimum star level? Along those same lines, it sounds as if you really don't want to be bidding 2* at this point in will only use that if necessary, is that correct, and we should offer a strategy for a 2.5* or higher property?

The reason for the trip is to visit relatives in the Elmwood Park, NJ area. However, I am willing to stay further away from that particular area in order to get a better hotel or bargain.

2.5* is my preferred hotel. Only want a 3* property if it remains within my maximum bid and is only $5-10 more than a 2.5* property.

Yes, I would say a 2* hotel is a backup plan should I be rejected on bids for better hotels as I don't really care for Days Inn, Wellesley, or Ramadas (although Fairfield, Hampton, Homestead are okay with me).

I would drop my hotel * level to 2* before increasing my max bid.

I'm not really sure what I should expect to pay for a 2.5* or 3* in that area, but I am willing to go as high as $75/night.

Thanks again!

I would start as follows:

Select 3* Paramus...

Bid $50, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 3* Saddlebrook...

Bid $50, if rejected add Paramus...

Bid $55, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 3* EWR Newark Airport...

Bid $45, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 2.5* Elizabeth...

Bid $45, if rejected close browser and re-access pricelne however you did previously.

Select 2.5* Secaucus...

Bid $45, if rejected close browser and re-access pricelne however you did previously.

Select 2.5* EWR...

Bid $45, if rejected add Elizabeth...

Bid $50, if rejected close browser and re-access pricelne however you did previously.

Select 2.5* EWR and Secaucus...

Bid $50, if rejected add Elizabeth...

Bid $55.

I would start with the above... if the above is rejected we'll continue from there.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
