Based upon current rates i think you're going to have to raise your maximum bid or lower your star rating expectations. To give it a try with your parameters above:

At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

I have a few questions. I am willing to wait as close as possible to the date of travel to get a room if I think I can find a good deal. Can the prices go much higher at this point? I am willing to increase my bids or try a 3 star. Should I keep waiting and rebidding 4* and maybe bump my max price up to 180 or 200? I know you can't tell me if the prices will drop, but I have no problem getting a hotel close to the airport as a last resort. I would love staying in the city though. From what you have seen in the past do I have a good chance of getting a 4* around what I want to pay as the date gets closer? Thanks again.

Sure they can... but eventually they could stop going higher because the hotels could sell-out; then there are no rooms availalble at any price!

This is something only you (and those you're traveling with) can decide. It has a lot to do with your budget, what type of hotels you're accustomed to staying in, etc.

And commute into the city? If so, which airport? Regardless of which airport, this is not really recommended, but which airport you're refering to will determine the reason why it's not recommended.

As you eluded, i don't know if price will go up or down between now and your stay, but i will say that hotel rates are currently high, so it doesn't look as if the hotels are hurting for business and they will all suddenly give their rooms to the opaque providers and fire sale prices. Do you currently have a back-up reservation, if so, where and how much?
