Priceline Hotel: Bid to wed for wedding night

I've loved using priceline and this board. I'm getting married December 22 in Chicago and want to spend the night in one of the nicer hotels. I know there is the NMA and Loop Zones. I'm fairly familiar with the area, and since I live here, I can check out whatever hotel. Probably would prefer NMA but not a big difference to us.

I'm wondering if you think it is a good or bad idea to use priceline for a room. We don't really need any kind of special pkg. But I don't want to get two double beds either :)

Thanks

Congrats on your wedding!

What would your budget be? Chicago hotel prices are often quite high, but December (or at least most of it) is definitely one of the cheaper time periods. While Priceline (and Hotwire) are options, it may be worthwhile to consider what's available regular rate. Let me know what you are looking to bid (or spend) and I'd be happy to offer some suggestions on how to proceed.

Not sure if you're having a intimate wedding with just family or a big affair with lots of out of town guests... if the latter i'd prefer to stay where my out of town guests were staying so that i could spend some time with them and have an 'after party' too :)

Thanks for the info. We've decided to go with the regular rates. We're only going to do this one time, and figure it's best to know what we're getting. Don't want to wind up in a hotel that is primarily business oriented.

We are considering the Swissotel, although her first choice right now is the Fairmont at Millenium Park. Will continue to check out some others.

We will be using better bidding and Savings Barn for planning the rest of our travel, however.

Don't know if you got my message, but the Swiss is $189/$199 (199 for Lakeview) via Expedia.com. I believe Fairmont was $149 for your dates.

Definitely look into the Westin River North ($180, Expedia), as well. Monaco (also in the same area, as the Swiss and Westin RN) would be another good choice for $170.

Best of luck with your decision and please let us know if we can be of any help deciding.
