Loric Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 I'm pretty good with priceline, but figured i'd try hedging my bets a little more with Hotwire this go-round for a quick overnight tonight. Then I got this whammy:9/10-9/114* Lake Beuna Vista - Downtown DisneyFitness Center, Restuarants, High Speed Internet, Childrens Activity Program, Pools, Business Center, Golf NearbyIt's $147, with retail of $159 (well, why on earth would i want to only save $12?)But i'm curious as to what the place even is - any thoughts? My noggin says it has to be the Swan or Dolphin and $159 is a reference to their internet special rate they've got going on right now... I know Hilton at WDW also shows in the 4*, but isn't it usually lower? I don't see them in the list, but do the Omni at Champions Gate or the Gaylord show up on Hotwire?Any help or insight would be appreciated.
Loric Posted September 10, 2006 Author Report Posted September 10, 2006 Just wanted to add..Through Hotwire..With Taxes and Fee's.. $186.06, plus if it's the Dolphin, you have the arrive and pay for a resort fee. If you book directly through the Dolphin itself, at $159, add taxes.. $178.88, then also pay resort fee. So, asuming it's the Dolphin (or an equvilent resort) it's technically a rip off for the night no matter how you look at it. And I did check, you can book the room for $159 directly through the Dolphin's website.Bleh!
thereuare Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 I just did a HOTWIRE search for your date above and didn't show any 4* hotel in the Downtown-LBV zone... are you searching for more than the default 2adults or searching for more than one room?I do show a 4* hotel in the Disney Main Gate-Champions Gate zone, but it has different amenities than you have listed above (and remember you need to click "continue" or "see hotel details" to see any amenities more than the first eight)It has also been noted on the board that hotwires 'retail prices' can not be relied upon... hotwire's position is that this price refers to the quality rating and not the specific property. Loric Posted September 10, 2006 Author Report Posted September 10, 2006 It was this morning, the search "location" i started with was "Disney world" then from the choices it comes back with i chose LBV-DtD. Definately 4* with all those things listed. Weird, eh? 1 night, 1 room, 2 adults.
Loric Posted September 10, 2006 Author Report Posted September 10, 2006 Just to check, i pulled it up again. All the same information, same thing - searched Disneyworld. Got all the surrounding areas, got rid off all the options except LBV- Downtown Disney, and it's 4*, but now it's for $149 (I could "save" $10 and still pay even more than booking it myself!) Everything else is the same.
thereuare Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 As per the Hotwire Hotel List this is a match for the Hyatt Grand Cypress so that woudl be our best guess.I could "save" $10 and still pay even more than booking it myself!Your basing this on the assumption that the hotwire retail price is accurate, which as i've commented above, is not a good assumption:It has also been noted on the board that hotwires 'retail prices' can not be relied upon... hotwire's position is that this price refers to the quality rating and not the specific property. If our guess above is correct, this property is selling for a promotional rate of $189/nite on the Hyatt website, or a $40/savings (better than 20%).
