I am trying to get a hotel roomr for us for that time period thru priceline or another bdding site. I put in $125 for a 4* hotel and got turned down. Any suggestions on what to enter for that time period? We want to be in the MTW, MTE or theatre district.

MTE and MTW are priceline zones, but there is no zone on priceline called "Times Square".This is an expensive time in NYC and bidding $125 for a 4* hotel is not likely going to be successful.
