Hope this might help someone.

Been bidding for 5* in Las Vegas for December 10-12. Venetian price from website is $169 for Sunday and $179 for Monday. Have tried a lot of different combinations, from low 100's to $120+. at the lower levels they will offer prices from $131 to $151 to get a room. Hotwire has it priced at $134 as of a few minutes ago. When they counter offer at $22, I've bid to over $130 and still no bites. But when I bid $108, I get the counter of $22, which would make it $130. Seems like as of today, $130 is the cheapest. Even when I bid $129, I still get the counter of $22, and bids at $130 still don't make it.

Is bidding for the Venetian always like this? I'll probably pull the trigger in the next few days and take it at $130, but wonder what others have to say.

Bidding via the Barn each time.

Bid $108 just a bit ago and got $22 counter offer....took it and was still rejected.

Hotwire now lists a 5* at $190.

Venetian website shows both nights at $169 now.

Any ideas?

Had a feeling that might happen. You may want to try $131 as also (may by rounding offering you the $130 rate but actually requiring $131 when submitting the bid due to the counter-offer rounding down and the 'bid check' rounding up)

The Venetian website shows the first nite being less expensive than the 2nd... but HOTWIRE shows the opposite :)

This is what i would do....

Do a search on HOTWIRE (please use this link for your search and/or purchase) for the 2nd nite of your stay and you should see a 5* hotel offered for ~$135/nite. DON"T PURCHASE IT YET.

Assuming you see the above for approximately that price, i would then try to bid on Priceline up to $125 (for if you find success you can presumably still pair it with the above hotwire offering for $135 and bring your average to $130).

Of course by SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID you do run the risk of receiving two different hotels, although i would think that the risk is extremely small when doing this at the 5* level in Vegas (although the risk is still there, so you need to be aware of it). This also raises the question if you want to take this risk to save $5 nite?

Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

Tried the $131 earlier and still rejected.

Tried first night at $125 and still rejected. Came back with $22 counter...declined and rebid $130...again rejected.

Not going to quibble about a couple bucks here or there. Will try a couple more times in next few days and if it doesn't work, go with Hotwire or look at 4*. Nevertheless, will bid thru SavingsBarn or HOTWIRE link here.

Got tired of puttzing around bidding on Priceline. No matter what, $108 to $130, countered with $22. Bid as high as $134 and got rejected. Maybe a little early, but I like to tie up loose ends way before the trip.

Hotwire had been $134 to $136 for the longest time, and today hit $131 for the Venetian.

2 nites at $131/nite with fees and taxes...$293.14.

Amenities: Casino, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, hi-speed internet, golf, tennis, spa.

Venetian website quoting $169/nite.

Bid through HOTWIRE link here.

Thanks.

Plz to move to appropriate Hotwire heading.
