magikolas Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 G'day,Was my first ever bid attempt on Priceline. Originally bid $80 and won, but accidentally bid on the wrong dates (stupid I know, but I had no idea what I was doing). Won the hotel (Galleria Park) for 10/11- 13/11. Frustrated, I called Priceline (From Australia) and spoke to a lady who reminded me that all bids were final but as a kind gesture and due to extrenuating circumstances I was allowed to cancel my booking for $25 with the condition I rebid and won within a 7 day period. I then discovered this forum and have tried for the past few days (through link at Savingsbarn) to get another room. Started to get a bit desperate, so raised my price quite dramatically and won the same hotel (bookin two days earlier) for $120.A little bit annoyed with the process (paying $40 a night more), but glad to have sorted the drama out.It looks like the hotel will be renovated by the time I arrive, and the new plans look quite stunning, so definately happy with that.Nick
thereuare Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Rates are date specific so although you may have won once for $80 (albeit wrong dates) that rate may not have been available for the actualy dates you did want. What are the dates of the stay you won at $120? Do you recall the amount of your previously rejected bid which include the Boutique class in that zone?Thank you for sharing your experience with the board and for using the PRICELINE links at SavingsBarn.com links to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. magikolas Posted August 26, 2006 Author Report Posted August 26, 2006 The dates I finally booked for are 10/09 and 10/11The previously rejected bid was $100 and I was going to use my last rebid zone at $105 but being on the 6th day since my original booking I got desperate and jumped to $120.Hope this makes sense
thereuare Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Makes total sense and also explains what i commented on above. The rate for the last nite of your (true) stay is $40 more than the other dates that you had bid (10/9-10/11) which explains the higher bid necessary for success. :)Enjoy your stay.
