We are looking at staying in the Midtown East area on the above dates in preferably 4 star accomodation.

What is the best way to set about bidding for 4 rooms?

We are prepared to pay up to $200.00 is this realistic?

As this is our first time on the site what strategy should we use?

Is MTE the only area you're willing bid?

Unless there is a reason you need to stay in this particular area, most NYC visitors bid the MTE, MTW, and UM/CPS zones... this gives you more bidding opportunities, increases your chances of getting a hotel, and may also give you a better deal than bidding only one zone. All of the known 4* hotels in these zones are convenient to mass transit/subways so they're all considered to have 'good' locations.

Do you want to include the other (MTW and UM/CPS) zones or only bid the MTE zone?

For the time been we would only like to stay in the Mte section. If this fails then will try a other section. Ill be awaiting your reply. Is $200 high enough for these dates and for four rooms we are after?

I'm doubtful $200 will be enough. There are essentially two 4* hotels that typically accept in this zone and they are each $500+ for your dates. To give it a try...

You have two re-bid zones at the 4* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* MTE...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* MTE and re-bid zone2...

Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $180.

If the above is rejected wait 24 hours and try...

Select 4* MTE...

Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $190, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* MTE and re-bid zone2...

Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $200.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Just bidded upto $295 for Mte section but no go. I think Mtw might be easier as i was bidding on priceline and you go and tick the area and star ratting it had Mtw 4* as both with the star saying best deal?

These are extremely expensive nites in NYC, i would be bidding all the zones that you are willing to accept... and i would be more flexible in your zone selection unless you absoluately oppose one of the zones for some reason. They're all convenient to transportation and should work fine for the typical visitor... you need to be more flexible when rates are as high as they are.

In other words, i would be bidding MTE, MTW, MTS, and UM/CPS.

Just bidded upto $300 in sections Mte and Mtw and no luck.

Also as i was bidding around $250 this message in red kept popping up saying " Based on recent data your price has no chance of being accepted".
