44disney Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Thanks to all the great tips here for helping me land the Westin Arlington Gateway. I started at $73 for 10/13 to 10/17 and progressed upwards to $98 adding zones. Having checked Hotwire on a day by day basis, it looked like my last night (Monday night) was much more expensive ($202 vs $99 for the others), so I backed out that Monday and went back down to $78. Bingo, I got it. I then tried to add the last day but failed (they offered it for, I believe $165 after it rejected the add-on at $78).I then repeated the process to attempt to add 10/11 and 10/12 (long story but I had planned to stay in DC on those days on business before moving here for pleasure). Being less price sensitive, I went into the mid 100's before concluding, based again on Hotwire, that the 10/11 date (Wednesday) was the problem. I dropped back to just 10/12 and $78 and again had success. I then added the 10/11 date at the not-so-attractive price of $257 ($310 on hotwire) but the combination for those two dates is still less than my D.C. booking and I don't have to move (and I don't pay for it either... still nothing to be proud of).For the last night I'm back out by BWI, which fit my plans fine.Sorry for the long detailed post but perhaps it will help others.... I assume the prices on Monday and Wednesday reflect that this is a business traveler's hotel but it looks like a bargain at $78 for Thursday to Monday.
