Priceline Hotel: 3* Somerset-Brunswick (Somerset-Piscataway-So Plainfield) Marriott

Bid yesterday for 3* then 2.5* in the Somerville-Bridgewater area up to $35 and no go. Went back in today and bid just for the above area for 3* and accepted at $33 for the first bid. Did not bid any higher in the other area as I was pretty sure this Marriott would have come up for $33 based on previous bids.

Tax and fee $17.75

Total (2 nights) $83.75

Marriott website had rooms for $89 per night so a pretty good deal.

Was wondering if any one knows of any good hiking or biking (easy) trails in the area or any good restaurants (we enjoy, American, Thai, Indian, Chinese, Italian) Thanks for your help.

I can't help with any bike trails, but there are some restaurant suggestions in this Marriott thread.

Here is a map of the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park the Main Canal route is very close to the Marriott. This area of NJ is pretty flat, so you won't get much of a Hike, so bring the bikes and take a ride all the way down to Carnagie Lake in Princeton. Alas, the Pakastani restaurant in Bound Brook has closed.

hopefully biddingforhotel will add his dining recommendations :) I'm not sure how far the lake is from the Hotel, but on lower right corner of the map is a chart that lists the distance between access points as well as available parking, the head of the lake looks like Kingston. It looks like the closest access point to the hotel with parking is the Weston Causeway. This hotel has a great outdoor pool in a courtyard setting, so don't forget the suntan lotion :)

I believe around 20 miles ... :)

The closest park is Colonial Park that has boating, mini golf, tennis court, basketball court ...etc and very nice trails you can bike or walk ... Go down Davidson Rd to the end about 1 mile, make right turn to another 0.5 miles and make left turn on traffice light, about 1 miles on the right is Colonial Park ... It also has a very nice playground if you have kids ...

Another nice park is Johnson Park, that you take Rt 527 South, about 3 miles left turn to cross the bridge and the Johnson Park is there along the Raritan River ... If you miss the turn, you will go directly into Rutgers University, and you will find another fantasy of Asian Library, University museums ...etc.

If you make a right turn from Davidson Av and heading Rt 527, you will see some shopping centers and restaurant, a miles down would be New Brunswick, you will see dozens of all kinds of good restaurant... Just park your car at the parking deck, it is very safe to park there and walk around town ...

Or if you get on the Fwy 287 South and exit 5 you see Middlesex Mall, that area also has lots of good restaurants ... If you want to eat them all, the international Buffet restaurant right at the exit has Chinese, Italian, Japanese, ... :)

Thank you everyone for all the great advise. Unfortunately the weather was not the greatest when we were there so we did not get to participate in all the outdoor activities (we did manage to get in a quick bike ride in the rain and I'm sure in favorable weather this canal bike ride would have been great... flat wide trail all the way). The outdoor pool looks good but had to stay inside at it was pretty cold. Did eat in a southern Indian restaurant called Hoysala (located in the Highwood Plaza, off Rt 527 south, about 2 miles from the hotel) Buffet dinner at $14 per person...food was very good and different than the Indian food we're used to.
