IAmTensai Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 Hi,sorry if this is a dumb question, but i have been trying for a while and cannot figure it out.I am trying to bid a hotel for downtown toronto, 2.5* or 3*.I read over the rebidding strategy, but i am unable to find the star level in the specific areas that i could use in rebidding.form this topic:http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=27403&i think pickering does not have 3* or 4* hotels.however, i cannot confirm it on priceline. I select the exact city from the list of cities under "modify search", when i select Pickering, i get 107 hotels and all of them are NOT in pickering.am i doing something wrong? Or does that mean i could use Pickering as a part of my rebidding strategy for 3* or 2.5* downtown?Following up with that, i see several areas i could select on the rebidding page that are not on the hotel listing page, how could I search for the hotels in just that location? Thanks in advance****ok nevermind, i changed to a different browser, and now i can see the star in each level. So as part of the strategy for downtown 2.5* and above hotel, i could use Pickering and Toronto East.

IAmTensai Posted August 19, 2006 Author Report Posted August 19, 2006 Hi,I am hoping to bid for a 2.5 or 3* in downtown toronto for less than $70.The problem is it is for tomorrow night(Sunday the 20th), so i don't have 24hrs to wait. After seeing this thread:http://www.betterbidding.com/show.php/showtopic/27501(3* for $50 one day for today)or these two:http://www.betterbidding.com/show.php/showtopic/27403(3* for $60 for two days ago)http://www.betterbidding.com/show.php/showtopic/27393(3* for $68 for two days after)i think my price range is realistic, but I cannot wait 24hrs. I will be very happy to have any of the bids in the threads above.Any suggestions?thanks again in advance.
thereuare Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 You have two re-bid zones when bidding 3* in Toronto. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Downtown...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $55, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Downtown and re-bid zone2...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $65.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. IAmTensai Posted August 19, 2006 Author Report Posted August 19, 2006 This is harder than i thought.I followed the steps outlined, after i bit $60 with the re-bid zone2, i had a counter offer of $17 additional.Instead I chose to follow the strategy exactly and added re-bid zone1 with $65 offer. It was then rejected.Did i make a bad move?I could use a different credit card and try again. How should I go about doing it this time? Thanks
IAmTensai Posted August 19, 2006 Author Report Posted August 19, 2006 after checking on Hotwire, for Aug 20th check-in, there is only 1 4* listed, and it is cheaper than all the 3*'s listed. The 4* one match either Westin or Sheraton, and it is listed as $88 on Hotwire under "Best value".Does that mean anything? Would i have a better chance to get a 4 star with my price range?
IAmTensai Posted August 20, 2006 Author Report Posted August 20, 2006 Finally went through, boy took me all day!3* selected1st bid-$61 -- counter offer of $17 more, i declined it2nd bid-$68 with re-bid zone1 --acceptedthe hotel is 3* Marriott Toronto Eaton Centre, i'm pleased with the result, although next time i will start planning a lil earlier.Thank you very much, and feel free to change the title reflecting this result.
