daticket Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Hi,I'd like to stay at the Venetian for 4 nights: 10/5 - 10/9. Just tried PL bid for: $105/nt, $145/nt, $165/nt, $175/nt with no luck. Not even any counter offers. Used to be able to get nights there for $79/night (ahh, the good ole days) and $99/night, so it's killing me now to have to bid higher! :) Here's what I've found out for the dates in question:Hotwire: For 4 nights together: $429/night. Breaking it down...1st 2 nights came up as $229/night while 2nd 2 nights were not available.EasyClickTravel: 1st night $265, other 3 nights: $301/nightVenetian website: 4 nights together: $349/night; breaking it down... 1st 2 nights $199/night, 3rd night $699!, 4th night $349Any suggestions on how to get the best deal? Am I overlooking other options? I'm willing to split up the dates (check in twice) if necessary to get a great deal, but haven't yet tried that on PL. Thought I'd check in with you experts first! Thanks so much for your help!
thereuare Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 How high are you willing to go for a 5* hotel? Will you eventually hit a price where a 5* just isn't worth it?PS- and please update your email account associated with the board to a valid one. You can do this thru the MY CONTROLS link on the top of the board (then the 'change email address' on the left hand side)... you'll then need to re-validate your account by clicking the link in the email sent Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
daticket Posted August 18, 2006 Author Report Posted August 18, 2006 Max limit for the 5* is $250/night. Thanks.
thereuare Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 You should be (one way or another) be able to get the Venetian for your complete stay as follows:First book the Venetian HERE for $300/nite (average). This is cancellable up until 72 hours before your check-in date, so you know that you're 'covered' for these last 2 nites of 10/7-10-9.Once you have that confirmed, you'll be within your budget ($250/nite) even if you book the first two nites, 10/5-10/7 directly on their website at $199/nite. But before buying direct i'd first try Priceline, where you have 7 re-bid zones available at the 5* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone6...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 5* Strip and re-bid zone7...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $170.... STOP!! (see below)At this point you could then book the 5* on HOTWIRE for $229/nite. Assuming that this is indeed the Venetian, it is only $199/nite on the Venetian website, so you could then apply for Hotwire's Double the Difference Guarantee; which if successful brings your cost down to $170/nite (plus fees and taxes)Does the above work for you? Any questions? Please use this link to book the HERE and if you need to try Hotwire (after failing with priceline) please use this HOTWIRE link.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. daticket Posted August 19, 2006 Author Report Posted August 19, 2006 Wow! Thanks so much for all the great information. It all made sense. I did you what you suggested (booked 4 nts thru EasyClickTravel), then PL'd the first 2 nts. When I bid $120, I rec'd counter offer for $188. I didn't accept and ending up rebidding all the way through $170/nt before rec'ing successful bid. So, I didn't have to go the HW route. To summarize:10/5 $170 via PL10/6 $170 via PL10/7 $301 via EC10/8 $301 via ECThank you so much for taking the time to help. I really appreciate it!
