Aramis Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I went and booked a great airfare :) to Boston for Oct 7-9 (Canadian Thanksgiving) and was pretty sure I could match that with agreat deal based on my research and attention to the advice provided in here.I am now a little worried because Oct 9 is also a holiday in the US and it seems that a lot of the 4* hotels I am interested in are booked for the 8th.Hey, I will go up to $160 right now to get something locked up and off my mind - I really want Copley/Back Bay .I have seen the postst that suggest inventory is released/repriced 30 days prior to booking request, but I don't know if I should wait that long.Essentially, I know how to use the rebidding to achieve my location and * golas, but I would like some advise on strategy regarding the price I might have to go up to and whether to wait. :) Thanks

Aramis Posted August 18, 2006 Author Report Posted August 18, 2006 Hi "There"The plan was to be right in the thick of it all and if I have to spend more than I had hoped, I might as well do it right, not settle for something farther out, of lesser quality and think that I "should have" done it right. I suppose that the Downton Boston - Charlestown would work as a second choice but if I am going to end paying just a little less, I would like to stick with Copley. Thanks,

thereuare Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 You have three re-bid zones available when bidding 4* in Boston. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. This is how i would attempt this stay, as it first tries for Copley but then tries for the best price in either zone as the price gets higher.Select 4* Copley (assuming this is what you're calling "back bay")...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Downtown...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Copley and DowntownBid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120.If the above is rejected i'd wait 24 hours and then try as follows:Select 4* Copley (assuming this is what you're calling "back bay")...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Downtown...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Copley and DowntownBid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. fs1 Posted August 27, 2006 Report Posted August 27, 2006 Any success Aramis? I'm looking at the same weekend.... I see that Hotwire is offering the Boston Park Plaza for $115 - I need a room with two beds and that's highly unlikely at this hotel, so I'm not going to book it. Add a third person and the rate is up to $149, so I may see my luck on Priceline...
