DCVA Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 New to this. I was trying to get a room in Ottawa downtown/Hull area for 2 nights. Check in Sep 27, check out Sep 29. I would like to get about 3 stars with about $60 a night. Is this possible? I need to stay in downtown area specificially. I checked hotwire and there's only one 3 star hotel in downtown for about $90+ a night. Thanks in advance for your help and bidding tips.
byeloe Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Previous wins have been less than $60, but based on current prices I think it will take more than $60. You could book a cancellable backup and then see if prices go down. Since there are no free rebids you can only make 1 bid every 24hrs.I would go ahead and try $60 bid and see what happens. If rejected then you can decide further. Please let us know what happens
DCnVA Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Bid won. Details:I have tried keeping the bid at $60 for a 4stars and 3 stars in Ottawa downtown area for the past few days with no success. Today, i changed the bid to $65 and won.First bid: 4 stars, $60, Ottawa downtown - not acceptedSecond bid: 4 stars & 3 stars, $65, Ottawa downtown - accepted.Nights: 2Date: 9/27/06-9/29/06Stars: 3 City: Ottawa - downtownHotel: Radission Hotel Ottawa ParliamentPrice: $130 for 2 nights + $27 tax = $157 total or $US 79/ nightI checked the hotel website the current lowest rates is at $CAD 115 + 15% tax = $US 118 /night approx.I'm new with pricline and i think $27 tax is pretty expensive it's about 20% of your bid price. I wish i could get a lower bid but i think this is still a decent rate. Thanks for the tip.
byeloe Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 HiGlad you won your room. The $27 tax also includes priceline booking fees so it is still high but not all tax
