tmiskiew Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Hi!What's going on in San Francisco those days? I was trying to book 09/10/06 - 09/15/09 USW and Embarcadero. I tried everything starting from $80 going up to $160. Nothing was been accepted. I guess I'm going to wait three days and try one more time... Any suggestions?Tom
slruud Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 You can try again after 24 hours. What are the rates for the dates you are looking for at some of the 4* hotels. Hotwire rates are quite high for these dates also.
BEAV Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 San Francisco is historically difficult to get accepted bids on Priceline during the months of September & October. These are two of the heaviest convention months in the City. Getting a 5 night bid accepted is probably going to take some patience.Below are the following conventions scheduled in SF during your dates. This info taken from SF Visitors & Convention Bureau website. http://www.sfcvb.org/convention/calendar.asp09.10.06 - 09.13.06 American Chemical SocietyFall National MeetingSunday, 9/10/2006 through Wednesday, 9/13/2006Attendance: 20000Peak Rooms: 6000 09.10.06 - 09.15.06 International Society for Neuropathology2006 International Congress of NeuropathologySunday, 9/10/2006 through Friday, 9/15/2006Attendance: 2000Peak Rooms: 2000 09.11.06 - 09.13.06 Centerforce2006 Centerforce Summit ConferenceMonday, 9/11/2006 through Wednesday, 9/13/2006Attendance: 220Peak Rooms: 95 09.13.06 - 09.14.06 California Minority Counsel Program2006 Annual Conference (1.5 days meeting)Wednesday, 9/13/2006 through Thursday, 9/14/2006Attendance: 600Peak Rooms: 65 09.15.06 - 09.17.06 California Dental AssociationAnnual Fall Scientific SessionsFriday, 9/15/2006 through Sunday, 9/17/2006Attendance: 16000Peak Rooms: 1800 What are the rack rates for SF hotels during your dates? If they are in the $300-400 range, then that will explain why you're not having luck thusfar.
BEAV Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 HOTWIRE has inventory in all three of their downtown zones (USW, USE and Embarcadero) ranging from $193 (4.5 stars USW - probably the Clift) all the way to $391 for the Le Meridien (4.5 stars - Embarcadero).
tmiskiew Posted August 6, 2006 Author Report Posted August 6, 2006 I just noticed that I can book the Hilton Financial District 09/09 - 09/15 on hilton.com for $199... I don't understand why I can't do it through priceline. I guess I book this a collect some hilton points this time.

Turkey Buzzard Posted August 14, 2006 Report Posted August 14, 2006 I think you'll have better luck waiting until a day before your travel. I know it's a gut wrencher but I've had good luck getting a SF room in the region I want for 50% off the list price if I wait until last minute.
