timetraveler Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 I need one night (Friday, August 4) in the Priceline N. Palm Beach/Singer Island zone. I don't want to bid until the last minute because of concerns about weather. I have refundable back-up reservations at the Best Western Seaspray Inn for $90 plus 10% tax, that I made with the link on your Support page.I'd like to get a 3* (Crowne Plaza?) for less than $90 including the Priceline fees. The Crowne Plaza website is showing a AAA rate of $117. Hotwire is offering the Hilton Singer Island 3* for $94 plus fees, if that indicates anything.I think I have two free rebidding zones: Jupiter and West Palm Beach.Thank you for your help.
runNgun Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 my experience shows that $94 on hotwire would translate to around $77 on priceline, with taxes and fees that saves you alittle cash but you upgrade from a Best Western to a Hilton. If you do bid, you'd have four shots at it if you:3* Singer Island $70 if rejected add Jupiter $73start a new bid with 3* Singer Island and WPB at $75, if rejected add Jupiter $77I won this a few weeks ago and just remembered to add it so hope it helps. Your Offer Price: $77.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $154.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $26.24 Total Charges: $180.24 Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort Check-In Date: Saturday, July 15, 2006 Check-Out Date: Monday, July 17, 2006 N. timetraveler Posted July 30, 2006 Author Report Posted July 30, 2006 I want to wait as long as possible to begin bidding in case a storm develops. When I submit my first bid will depend on the answer to three questions that I hope you can answer for me:1. Is bidding for same day check-in a good idea?2. Priceline says that bidding for same day check-in is not allowed for some cities. Do you know whether same day bidding can be done for Singer Island?3. Is my bidding strategy likely to require two days (two tries, 24 hours apart)?
thereuare Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 1. Is bidding for same day check-in a good idea?I don't think so, always leave yourself some 'wiggle' room.2. Priceline says that bidding for same day check-in is not allowed for some cities. Do you know whether same day bidding can be done for Singer Island?Try bidding for this area today... if the box is 'greyed out' then it's not eligible for some day bidding... if you can choose this box then you can bid same day.3. Is my bidding strategy likely to require two days (two tries, 24 hours apart)?See #1 above. If you want to try for the best price possible, you need to lave as many re-bid opportunities as possible. timetraveler Posted August 2, 2006 Author Report Posted August 2, 2006 It looks as if Tropical Storm Chris is going to stay out of the way, so I'm ready to bid. The Hilton Palm Beach Oceanfront (Singer Island) is showing an AARP rate of $125. The Crowne Plaza Singer Island is showing a AAA rate of $117. I'm looking for a 3* hotel on Singer Island, Florida (N. Palm Beach/Singer Island area) for Friday 8/4 for under $90 including Priceline fees.

timetraveler Posted August 3, 2006 Author Report Posted August 3, 2006 I'm trying to stay under what the Best Western would cost, ($90 + 10% tax, no service fee) but I don't know how to figure Priceline's service fee.So I'm guessing that my max bid should be $80 or less. :)
thereuare Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 You have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Singer Island...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $70, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Singer Island and re-bid zone2...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $80.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
