Well, I almost didn't post this as I wasn't very thrilled with this win. Anyway, this was for my kids and their Dad for a long weekend - he really wanted a suite hotel but was too cheap to spring for what I'm sure was the Embassy Suites on Hotwire for $61 a night. Against my better judgment I went up to $50 hoping for the same hotel, but this is what they have (on a bright note, I was very happy that they didn't get the Holiday Inn, which is a somewhat undesirable hotel of the 3* Oak Brook options.) Personally, I'd have spent the $11 extra each night knowing that breakfast was part of the deal.

Do you recall your highest previously rejected bid before $50?

In retrospect i'm sure that many would pay the extra money for the Embassy Suites (not just breakfast, but maanger's reception and internet too). As you point out, Doubletree isn't bad either, and for this price, i'd take it!!

I'm pretty sure my previous bid was $48 - there are so many free rebids for the 3* in the Chgo 'burbs, I tend to up my bids very conservatively.

And yes, I know what you mean about posting wins like this. I've gotten so spoiled and manage to find most our stays in the lower $40's (or less) per night and I was almost embarrassed to admit I'd gone up to $50 and not even ended up with what we were hoping for.
