CakeGirl Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Hi,I'm poor student on serious budget. Need help bidding on 3* hotel in Vancouver, BC downtown for 8/30-9/31. I'm thinking of starting bid of $80. Let me know if this is reasonable at all... I can even go lower on star rating too... but just don't want to pay over $86.Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 You have two re-bid zones available when bidding 3* in Vancouver. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Downtown...Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $50.Don't get discouraged if the above does not succeed as i'm suggesting a lowball bid at first which i think may have a shot.Any questiosn feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. CakeGirl Posted August 4, 2006 Author Report Posted August 4, 2006 Tried to bid up to $60 for 3* in Vancouver, Delta, and Langley. No luck yet :) . Should I try again tomorrow for higher bid, or should I move-on to 2-1/2*?
thereuare Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 We lowballed at first because you have plenty of time... i don't see why you would want to lower your star quality to 2.5* when you are so far away from your maximum bid. See my comment at the end of the strategy above:Don't get discouraged if the above does not succeed...24 hours from your prviously rejected bid re-try:Select 3* Downtown...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65.If that fails, in another 24 hours:Select 3* Downtown...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80.If both of the above fails we'll then have a closer look at your options (which include lowering the star quality).. but i don't think you need to 'cross that bridge' until you get there.Keep us updated.
