mel123 Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Hi All,Ive only just heard about Priceline yesterday and decided to give it a go. Going to Vegas 27th November till 2nd December. Was thinking it would be nice if i got a 5* for first two nights or last two nights for a bargain price. Venetian is almost 500 per room when i go in to book directly with them, Bellagio is $179. I could book Bellagio directly its not too expensive bey hey, if i could save a few quid. So i put in 5*, strip vicinity, and my bid was $130 and it got rejected. Am i booking too far ahead in advance? Any tips or tricks i would be most greatful...im reading through all the other topics slowly :)
thereuare Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 With rates at the Venetian in the $400 range you're not likely to see any greatly reduced inventory offered to the opaque suppliers. While rates at the Bellagio are so much more affodable, i suspect that there is a convention at the Venetian during your stay (thus the reason for the high rates during an otherwise slow period).Since the $179 rate at the Bellagio is pretty good, and cancellalbe, i would book that right away to lock it in (please use our link to the Bellagio to do so) and then have a closer look at your options as your date draws nearer (say 6-8 weeks before). You can then try the opaque providers and other sources to better your deal or stick with the back-up you've made. mel123 Posted August 3, 2006 Author Report Posted August 3, 2006 Thanks, i did think i might be a bit too early to secure a good rate!
thereuare Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 But i would lock in that Bellagio rate. As long as it's cancellable, which i believe it is, you protect yourself in case rates go up, but you also can book something else without penalty if rates go down. mel123 Posted September 6, 2006 Author Report Posted September 6, 2006 Hi, can anyone help me with a 5* for November 30th and December 1st? We are on a budget so the cheaper we can get it the better. Travelling over from Ireland so if we could have two nights in this 5* it would really make the trip. The max bid i have tried on priceline so far is 140 and nothing. Can anyone offer me advice?? Thanks in advance.
