kap10 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I was rejected with my bid of $72 for 3* Jersey City for 8/26-30 and then re-bid $75 adding Elizabeth and was rejected again.
blindman Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 IMHORates at the Hyatt are:Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday199.00 169.00 259.00 259.00 Hotwire has the date range at $219 with the Sunday only as $98.Saturday only is $187 and Mon-Tuesday is $249..I think that for the Sunday $65 will do fine whereas for Saturday $75 may be the sweet spot. Now as for Mon -Tues, this may be $90.So, do you split your bid or wait and hope that the rates come down for Mon-Tues.Other problem is that $75 is about the point that the Doubletree kicks in :) I'm sure someone more experienced wil give their thoughts....
kap10 Posted July 31, 2006 Author Report Posted July 31, 2006 I would actually prefer the Doubletree because my sister and her family have reservations there, although I agree it is not as nice a hotel as the Hyatt. I decided to go for either hotel and we could just walk between the two if we ended up in the Hyatt.

kap10 Posted August 1, 2006 Author Report Posted August 1, 2006 I took your advice and tried splitting my dates, $80 for 3* for 8/28-30 rejected, $70 for 3* 8/26 rejected; and $75 for 3* 8/26-27 rejected. I will try again today. The lowest rate from the Doubletree website is $219.
blindman Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 I've just won the Hyatt Jersey City bid for both the Friday 25th and Saturday 26th.Accepted off the first bid, yesterday I bid $63.00I would not be surprised if you can also get the Sunday 27th for this rate too.
kap10 Posted August 1, 2006 Author Report Posted August 1, 2006 I rebid Jersey City 3* 8/26-30 $70 rejectedThen added Elizabeth and $80 rejectedchanged dates to 8/27-30 $75 accepted for the HyattCan I immediately re-bid for 8/26 or do I need to wait 24 hours?
itsneverenough Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 If you want to make yourself feel even better about your great deal, look at the rates a couple weeks later 9/15 - 9/17. The rates are $400+. They are actually a little higher than the Grand Hyatt in NYC. :)
thereuare Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Congratulations on your success... glad the board was helpful in you picking the correct dates to split your bid.You can now bid again immediately for 8/26, no 24 hour rule applies, since you never bid for this nite be itself before.
