Hotwire Hotel: 3* WDW Hotel & Hotwire Guarantee

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this, but I've come across an interesting situation...

On my dates, Jan 3-Jan 10, a 3 star in the WDW zone comes up with restaurant, pool, and high speed internet. Judging from the BB list, it is likely to be the Courtyard in WDW. Price from Hotwire is $85/night.

Now, here's where the interesting part comes in... I recently got an email from the Courtyard advertising a Super Saver Rate of $59/nite. The rate is available on all my nights (as of last night), but it does require you to input a code. It seems to be available to the general public, though. It's not corporate, AAA, or any of the other stipulations mentioned in the Hotwire Guarantee details...

So, what I'm thinking is that if I booked this 3 star for $85/nite then I could submit the Hotwire Guarantee request and get double the difference ($52/nite). This would effectively make my room $33/nite (though you would have to add taxes and the Hotwire fee onto that, I realize).

I tried contacting Hotwire Customer Support for clarification on the policy, specifically if the email I received with the rate code would be valid for the guarantee and all I got back was a form letter with the entire policy stated. ::sigh::

Edit: Shoot, I tried this last night and the Courtyard WAS showing. Now, conveniently, it is not. I'm guessing I shot myself in the foot when I contacted Customer Support. Oh well.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

My guess is that they're just rotating hotels and your letter probably did not cause them to remove the property from showing (did you even mention the hotel name in your letter?) I would also think that a code required to obtain a specific rate would not have to be honored... just the fact that a code needs to be entered is a red flag since the 'general public' wouldn't have that code.

You could certainly try emailing them again, or calling their customer service department (but i'd prefer something in writing if i was going to try to cash in on this), but my guess is that rates that require the inputting of a specifc code do not qualify. On the other hand, it's possible that Expedia/Obitz/etc may offer the lower 'code' rate even without using a code, and i would check those services too.
