Hi Guys,

I want a 3* hotel near DIsneyland area from Aug 21 - Aug 25. I have tried for two days from $45 to $65 and all get rejected. And I got the counteroff at $77 last night.

based on the other similar cases. $77 is a little bit high.

My questions are .

1. The price is high because it is too early to bid? should I try it at the beginning of Aug?

2. Is it poossible that I get rejected at $65 today but get accepted tomorrow?

3. What is the regular wining price?

4. what is the biding strategy?

for example. If I search the 3* hotels from hotwire and get the lowest price is $77. Am I suppose to get a better deal from priceline? What do you think the winnng bid from priceline is ?

a lillte more detail.

I started my bidding at SavingsBarn.com.

two days bidding on Disneyland hotel. First day started at $45 and bid up to $50 (3 rebids )-rejected.

Second day started at $50 and up to $65(3 rebids ). all get rejected.

added Anahiem Hills and Mission Viejo to rebid. No luck.

You can almost always undercut Priceline's counter-offer... so the $77 can almost certainly be beat.

What is the best deal you can find elsewhere?

Rates are date specific so there is no "usual winning price" since rate (both opaque and traditional) are based upon occupancy levels at the hotel. Just as rates fluctuate thru conventional means, so do rates thru opaque means.

I do think you'll be successful if you continue to go up to $70. I didnt' do an exhaustive search but did find hotel-direct rates of $125+, so $70 would still represent some pretty good savings, but it is up to you if you choose to wait or not. If you wait rates could go down... but the could also go up! :)

If you let us know your maximum bid we'll suggest a strategy accordingly.
