I've tried both 3 and 4 stars, searching only in Downtown for 8/13-20. I've bid up to $82 without success but have seen postings here with winning DT Toronto bids for $75 or less. My dates do cover two weekends, but I really do not want to switch hotels during the trip. Any speculation of how high I have to go on my bid--I don't want to jump too high, but also can't spend too many more days inching my bid up. Thanks very much.

If somebody paid you $100 to change hotels during your stay... would it be worth it to you? How about $150? $200?

I ask because by not SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID you may be leaving $100+ on the table. See the previous link for a more indepth discussion on splitting your bid (and why it is done).

I haven't done an exhaustive search, but a preliminary look i think you're going to have a very tough time staying downtown for your complete stay as most hotels are sold-out for at least part of your stay (which further explains your rejections).

My guess is that you're going to have to:

1) pay a LOT and book direct (please use links in our support page) to stay downtown

2) stay your complete visit in a non-downtown zone

3) split your bid, staying part of your stay downtown and part outside of downtown

4) split your bid, purchasing part of your stay downtown via priceline and booking the remainder direct (at a lower star quality and more money)

Let us know your thoughts on the above and we'll advise accordingly.
