Priceline Hotel: 3* San Diego (Coastal) Holiday Inn Mission Bay

Sorry for the delay in posting (I thought I had) :)

Multiple rebids tried for 4-star in the same area - went with 3-star and got stuck with this. My review is provided in a seperate hotel review thread. I called PL and have requested that they 1) recategorize this to a 2* or less and 2) hopefully refund part of our money.

Regardless, I have disputed the charge amount on my credit card (we will see if this works).

Another note, I noticed that they no longer offer a 3-star in this area just 3 star upscale and 2-1/2 star moderate plus. BEWARE!

Huh? Aren't 3* and '3* upscale' the same thing? (and just to clarify for others reading... there is currently still 4* offered in this zone)

While you're free to take whatever recourse you have available to you, i think you should have at least given Priceline a chance to respond and make an offer to try to satisfy your dissatisfaction. I think refusing to pay the entire charge is a bit extreme. Just my .02 and others are free to disagree.

As I recall, 3* and 3*upscale are two different categories. (?).

I agree with you on the disputed amount and my intent is to negotiate something reasonable.

You don't really have much chance of winning your dispute, even if you think the quality of the Holiday Inn doesn't merit 3 stars. That's because really the difference between 3 stars or lower usually is nothing more than a picture in the room, some wallpaper, and a chandelier in the lobby. I've been to some horrible Holiday Inns myself that didn't deserve 3 stars, and you just learn to be more careful (and a betterbidder) when bidding in zones where undesirable properties lurk so you can bid around them instead of winning them.
