Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all well.

I am new to the forum and was looking for some advice please.

I am flying to new york and staying for 7 nights - (13th Sept - 20th Sept),

I have been reading and it seems that Manhattan it out of my price range

so i've been looking into New Jersey. I have checked the various zone

on priceline and also checked the winning bids by previous bidders on the

3* hotels in Jersey City (newark) - seems like there are 2 hotels in this

band, the doubletree and the hyatt regency on the hudson...either of these

2 hotel would be great. I was just wondering what bid I should enter as

my first bid? I would have a max budget of $100/night.

I have checked the re-bid process and know that Elizabeth only has

hotels upto 2.5 stars and so I could get a free bid this way. Is

this the correct strategy to use?

All your help is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

John

This is an expensive time in the area and my guess is that your maximum bid will not be enough even for Jersey City. Hopefully you can prove me wrong, and I would bid as follows...

Select 3* Jersey City...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $80.

If rejected wait 24 hours and try again as follows:

Select 3* Jersey City...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90.

If rejected wait 24 hours and try again as follows:

Select 3* Jersey City...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100.

Don't forget to double check your re-bid zone each time before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck.

Hi Blindman,

I've been speaking to my partner and I think we

are going to split our trip in 2 and book the Amerisuites

in Secaucus for 3 nights on HOTWIRE and then try to

win the other 4 nights on priceline. Will let you know

how it goes.

Thanks for all your help so far, I really do appreciate

it. Hope you enjoy your trip.

John :)
