Priceline Minimum Age Requirement

Hello everyone,

This could be a total n00b question but I was wondering about the 21 year minimum age requirement for naming your own price on priceline. It's been my experience (and I've heard from others) that hotels don't care what age you are (assuming you meet their minimum age requirement)...so do I have to be 21 to name my own price? Is anyone going to check?

They may check... they may not; it's your risk if you want to try it or not, but keep in mind that you are frequently asked for ID when checking in on an opaque purchase, so you need to be prepared with an acceptable ID without your age on it for a deck clerk that may 'care'.

My guess it twofold:

1) they need a rule to cover all areas, which includes Vegas, where the minimum check-in age at most casino hotels is 21

2) hotels that have minibars with alcohol (and perhaps no way to lock them) have a minimum 21 year old policy to prevent underage drinking (for which they would then be responsible should something bad happen)

Yes, I think you have a much greater chance of running afoul of a hotel's own policy than Priceline's.

Even then, age restrictions tend to be enforced mainly in places high school/college kids might use the hotel as a place to party: around graduations, football games, New Years' Eve, vacation areas etc. Vegas and other gambling areas probably fit this too.

I'm bringing this topic back up because I had a question about it. I want to bid on a hotel in the buckhead Atlanta area and I contacted all of the hotels in the 4 star category. They all told me that the minimum check in age for their hotel was 18. So do you think it would be ok for me to bid even though priceline says 21? Thanks!
