treen74 Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Hi,I'm new to this forum and would appreciate any help you can give. The wife, 1 year old child and I are looking for a cheap, clean hotel for Aug 15th for 2 nights not too far from SFO airport which would have free airport shuttle (so we can get all our luggage to the hotel and then pick up a hire car from the airport to head south on our departure) and is also adjacent to some transport links into the City.I've looked at places like Days Inn and comfort Inn and Metro6 and all the reports Ive read on tripadvisor dont make for good reading at all.I'm trying to do it on a budget but cant see much less than $70.Can I get anything decent at around $70 pn?We'll be stopping somewhere half way between SF and LA for the 17th august (any suggestions)After that we're planning to stay somewhere near Los Angeles for 2 nights (18th and 19th August) as we fly to New zealand on the 20th. It doesnt have to be near the airport as we'll have a car upto that point. Ive been told ithere are nice sights around Venice Beach/santa monica.....................I know I've given a lot of detail but I thought it may help influence any answers given. Is it best to apply earlier or closer to the date requested? Sorry for question overload
thereuare Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 We'll use this thread to start with your SFO stay... we'll then have you start a NEW TOPIC for the LAX portion fo your trip.If you haven't already, you should probably give this thread a read: I've Never Used Priceline or HotwireAug 15th for 2 nights not too far from SFO airport which would have free airport shuttle (so we can get all our luggage to the hotel and then pick up a hire car from the airport to head south on our departure)With priceline you can't guarantee an airport shuttle although i suspect that most of the higher rated properties in the SFO area offer some sort of shuttle service... but this can't be guaranteed. HOTWIRE does give the ability to see if the hotel offers a shuttle or not, but this will likely cost you a bit more than Priceline.and is also adjacent to some transport links into the CityYou have to realized you're buying an opaque property so you can't choose the specific hotel you will receive... it can be anywhere within the designated zone. There is a BART stop at the airport so on a recent trip we took the hotel's shuttle to the airport and then got on the BART into the city from there. So assuming the hotel you receive does have shuttle service this may be a workable option for you.Is it best to apply earlier or closer to the date requested?See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Let us know if you can accept the conditions above of using an opaque service (ie- regardging shuttle and 'adjacent to mass transit') and we'll suggest how to proceed. Also, would $70 be your maximum bid amount or 'all-in' including fees/taxes? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
