I stayed one night at this hotel in the last week of June 2006. I was very pleased with this hotel. I had just stayed at an Omni, a Doubletree, and a Hyatt, and this modest Hampton Inn held up very well against those fancier hotels.

We requested a non-smoking room, and although the room we were given had the non-smoking logo on the door, the room still reeked of smoke. The woman at reception was apologetic and cheerfully put us in another room which was very clean and fresh. This new room was at the end of the hall, so it was quiet as well. We were told that there were THREE family reunion groups staying at the hotel, but the noise level was never intrusive. The bed was comfortable, and we got a good night's sleep.

This hotel had a pool and a fitness room, but we did not use them. There was no restaurant on-site, but I think there were some fast-food places in walking distance. The hotel had a really nice free breakfast, so we didn't need a restaurant anyway. The breakfast had lots of variety (cereals, yogurt, four kinds of coffee, pastries, bread (for toast), etc.). I was also impressed that the hotel had free wireless internet access.

This hotel is close to some of the casinos on the St. Charles River, but it is about a 20 minute drive from downtown St. Louis in light traffic. If you are visiting St. Louis to see the downtown sights, keep in mind that this hotel is not very close to the center of the city. However, it has free parking, and it is literally right next to the I-270 access ramp, so it's handy if you are arriving by car. I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel.

Correction: The casinos are on the Missouri River between St. Louis and St. Charles.
