brian willson Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Hi- I am trying to book five nights - 7-18 to 7-22 in a resort hotel like the Caribe or the Condado in San Juan. i see priceline only has 3 star and then resort - so I assume to use resort category. Will I have more difficluty getting five nights or should i split the bid. idon't mind changing hotels if they are both as nice as these. I have read splitting the bids. Thank you in advacne for any advice. Also what bid price should I start at? I am will to go to $130.00 per night., but of course I love reading these reports of the Caribe at $65.00
thereuare Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Rates are not high for these dates (by San Juan standards) but i'm also seeing some things which make me think that there may be low 'opaque' inventory, so this is going to take a little 'work'.When bidding Resort you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.I would begin as follows:Select Resort...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select Resort and re-bid zone2...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90.Try the above going thru the following date combinations:7/18-7/227/18-7/217/19-7/227/18-7/207/20-7/22If the above is rejected wait 24 hours and loop thru the date combinations once again, using the following bid amounts:Select Resort...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select Resort and re-bid zone2...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $110.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us kno how it goes.PS- don't forget to always double-check your re-bid zones between bidding cycles! brian willson Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 I think I got it now....to confirm - I should should check my inital bid with every date range and only use rebids to offer a new bid before the time normal time constraint of 72 hours. Rebiding with the same bid when adding a new zone does not accomplish anything - yes?And I'm not exactly sure what you meant by:<PS- don't forget to always double-check your re-bid zones between bidding cycles!>Thanks.Brian
thereuare Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Not exactly (i don't think)....Let's back it up one step. Read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained (at least the first post) and confirm which two zones are your re-bid zones. If you're confused or don't understand just post it back and we'll back up one additional step. brian willson Posted July 1, 2006 Author Report Posted July 1, 2006 I am at $110.00 for San Juan Resort and still nothing.....I'll go a little higher. Does it typically gete worse as you get closer to your travel dates?
thereuare Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ regarding "bididng close or late to check-in date".Have you booked a back-up yet?
