MindyRobin Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Hi. I am new to this and want to bid on a 5* hotel in London for August 18-21. There are very few 5* London hotel postings here for me to gather info. Wondering if you think it's possible to get a 5* in central London for $150 at this time. I've been told that August is actually a slower time for London hotels, which might help? Also wondering if Priceline or Hotwire is better.Thank you.
thereuare Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding!Exactly which Priceline (and Hotwire) zones were you considering? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
MindyRobin Posted June 28, 2006 Author Report Posted June 28, 2006 I would do Bloomsebury/Marble Arch, Mayfair/Soho, or Notting Hill. Thanks!
thereuare Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Only one of the zone above offers 5* bidding. Are you familiar with Priceline Re-Bidding Explained? There are seven re-bid zones when bidding 5* in London. See if you can figure them out, or ask questions if you can't, and we'll take it from there. MindyRobin Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 Thanks, but I still wonder if $150 has potential to get a 5* in London?
MindyRobin Posted June 30, 2006 Author Report Posted June 30, 2006 Hi- is anyone ut there who could answer my previous posting :) Thanks!
thereuare Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 We were still waiting for an answer to ours:Are you familiar with Priceline Re-Bidding Explained? So if you understand re-bidding why not try to get a 5* hotel within your budget and then if not successful take it from there? One person can say it's possible and another that it's not... but you will never know unless you actually try.If you need help with a bidding strategy then let us know, but it involves re-bidding which is why we first ask if you understand that concept. tenerifesharon Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 Hi MindyRobin,If you don't get what you need through priceline, check out travelzoo.com (sorry, I can't find any link from betterbidding to travelzoo) and look for the international specials for hotels. There are several London 4 and 5* properties with excellent offers on until around Sept. 3rd.
eternitybc Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 Hi Mindy- I got a 4 star hotel for 80, so I would think it's *possible* to get a 5 star for 150 - have you read on how to rebid?
