Priceline Hotel: Hilton NY or try for 4* Downtown Soho?

We currently have won on priceline Hilton on Ave. of Americas for $126. They've given the option to get more nights for same price. (How long is this offer generally granted?)

Originally thought we wanted to priceline bid for 4 star downtown hoping to get Milennium. Wanted to be close to SOL, Brooklyn Bridge, Canal Street, Chinatown, WTC site.

My concern is we're a family of 4 travelling (in 1 room) and we may get Tribecca or 'boutique' hotel. Was wanting the pool for the kids, but realize we may not get it.

What would you do? Stay at Hilton for remainder of trip and just subway/bus/taxi those sights? Or try for the downtown one?

The "extend your stay" option, although offered, is not guaranteed... some have clicked that option only to be told nothing available or nothing available at that price and given the option to book at a higher price.

What are the other dates you're seeking? Do you plan to walk the Brooklyn Bridge? Go to the Statute? Walk around Canal/Chinatown?

Thanks for responding! Looking at 7/11 and 12th. Wanting to do all those things you mentioned and thought being closer would be more convenient? Or not a nice area?

If you can get the $126/nite rate for the extra dates it would be a good deal so i would do that... via subway you can be downtown in 10 minutes so not too much of an advantage.
