Hi, I've been searching Hotwire and bidding on priceline for the nights of September 8 and 9th, 2006 for 2 rooms. So far I've got offers on a 4* on hotwire for $89-92 a night per room. This posting is for a hotel in downtown Toronto btw.

The listing says it's a customer favourite with the following amenities:

fitness centre, pool, restaurant, business centre, tennis nearby and spa facilities.

Any ideas as to what this hotel is? I've never used either hotwire or priceline before planning this trip so any tips would be greatly welcomed!

Thanks so much

I've been bidding on priceline for 2 rooms in downtown toronto 4* for the nights of September 8th and 9th. I've tried bids of $69-$74 so far but they've all been rejected. Any suggestions or tips? This is the first time I've tried the site so I'm still fumbling in the dark so to speak lol. I was wondering if the price they accept may be lower as the dates get closer?

Thanks so much for any help you can offer

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The 4* Hotwire hotel is a match for the Westin Harbour Castle so that would be our best guess.

If you'd prefer to continue to try Priceline let us know your maximum bid and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Thank you,

I'm currently trying both hotwire and priceline. I'm willing to go up to $80-90. We need several rooms, is it better to have everyone bid on their own or put bids in for all 3 rooms at once? If I don't have success with priceline in the next week I think I'll just take the best price I can get through hotwire.

I've been trying to add new regions to my search to gain extra bids on priceline (picking other areas that do not have any 4 stars). Is this a good strategy to use?

Thanks again!

How high have you already bid on Priceline?

Bid them all together if you want to ensure that all rooms are at the same property. We sometimes see users who have everyone in their party bid at the same time and different users receive different hotels.:)

So far the highest bid I've placed on priceline was $75. Does it make any difference that the date I'm trying to book for is still somewhat away (september 8 &9th)? I notice others have had success with lower bids so I was curious if they may let them go for less as the dates become closer.

I was a bit worried about the rooms being split up in different hotels. It certainly would be nice to have us all in one place.

I have one more question for you as well. We have 2 small children, ages 5 and 6, that will be staying in a room with us. I notice that priceline doesn't give you the opportunity to specify children in the room. Will this greatly effect the rate after a bid is successful? On hotwire it did give me the option to specify how many children as well so that could be a factor as well.

Thanks again

If you have on person bid for all the rooms and bid together (up to four rooms) then they will all be at the same property.

If you are ready to bid again let us know and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. However, be sure to read the 'double occupany' thread(s) in the link above to determine if you'd prefer to go with Priceline or Hotwire.

The winning priceline bid was about my 14th bid ( I was using free re-bids, adding other zones without 4 stars). The hotel won was:

4* Westin Harbour Castle, 3 rooms, $83/night for the nights of 09/08 - 09/10 in Downtown Toronto.

Thanks
