kiko17 Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Hello,This is my first post. I am looking for help with a bidding strategy. My dates are Dec. 27 06 - Jan. 3 07. I realize they are peak dates, so this may just be impossible. I am willing to make the stay as late as Jan. 1 - 8th. Currently I have a cancellable backup hotel booked at $285/night (w/o taxes, etc.) for the Jan. 1 - 8th dates. I am only interested in staying in the Kaanapali area in a resort hotel, so I know I have two free rebid zones. The rates for Dec. 27 - Jan. 3 at the Westin, Hyatt, and Sheraton are all around $480 or so a night. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Nell
thereuare Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 What would be your maximum bid on an opaque purchase? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
kiko17 Posted June 19, 2006 Author Report Posted June 19, 2006 $275 would be my maximum bid for opaque purchases.
thereuare Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Before suggesting a stragegy (as you may be able to lower your maximum bid)...You don't mention where your back-up is, but how does it compare to the Outrigger Royal Kahana which you can get a room for $245/nite or $258/nite for an OceanView? I don't know much about it, but the reviews appear to be very good. This is also available for these rates for both sets of dates, so if you prefer starting on 12/27 that is an option with this as well.Let us know and we'll proceed accordingly. kiko17 Posted June 19, 2006 Author Report Posted June 19, 2006 Thank you. I really would like to be right on Kaanapali beach, and it doesn't appear that this hotel is. The backup is the whaler on kaanapali beach, which is usually listed as 4 stars.
thereuare Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 I would try as follows:Select Resort...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200.If rejected in 24 hours...Select Resort...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $245.If rejected in 24 hours...Select Resort...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $265, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $275.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. kiko17 Posted June 21, 2006 Author Report Posted June 21, 2006 No luck with this. I did place my bids through savingsbarn.com. I will continue to try this strategy occasionally until closer to my dates. Thanks!
