Priceline Hotel: Springfield, IL 6/13-6/16 2006

Let's see if my mom can do better in Springfield than I did in Chicago. She wants two rooms and a pool because there will be smaller children and they need a pool! I checked through betterbidding's hotel checker to get an idea of the type of hotels and prices that would be listed on Expedia. I was surprised to see that so many of the hotels listed do not have swimming pools even though they had relatively higher star levels (2-3* seem to be high for the area). My question is: Is it too risky to use priceline for this purchase because they cannot assure me of the ammenities? They need that pool! She's hoping to pay around $50 per room. Any advice is appreciated. Sorry for the long post! p.s. Also looked at hotwire, but they didn't have anything under $64 before taxes and fees.

I think it would be risky to use Priceline if the pool is a requirement.

There is a 2* on Hotwire for your complete stay that has a pool for ~$60; this hotel has not been identified but i would expect something along the lines of a Days Inn (which i looked has an outdoor pool, but can also be booked directly on the Days Inn website for $63 which would end up being a bit less than Hotwire after feeds)

If you change your dates to 6/14/06-6/16/06 a 3* comes up on Hotwire with a pool for $80/nite... just a little over your budget.

Maybe your mom and the kids could stay someplace the first nite and then take the 3* above for the remaining two nites?

Is there any area nearby that they could stay in which may have a larger selection of properties?
