patbateman Posted May 31, 2006 Author Report Posted May 31, 2006 Looking for booking a 4* or 5* hotel in London for June 16-19.Areas: 1. Mayfair - Soho 2. Bloomsbury - Marble Arch (3 Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge)I have read not-the-best reviews for Holiday Inn Kings Cross, but I'm not sure if this hotel is in my 1. choice area (mayfair-soho).What should I start my bidding at? F.ex. i did find Darlington Hyde Park for USD 167 /night incl taxes at www.hotelscomparison-10.co.ukIm willing to pay up to 180/night incl taxes, but then I want a nice hotel.
thereuare Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Please don't double post... if you have more information or your plans change for the same stay then continue your existing thread. We will need a bit more info....Areas: 1. Mayfair - Soho2. Bloomsbury - Marble Arch(3 Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge)So do you want to include the Kensington zone in your bidding or not?Is price or prefered zone more important? Would you rather have a hotel in your 2nd (or 3rd) zone choice for less money or spend more in your prefered zone?Similarly, do you want to spend more for a 5* vs. a 4* or is either acceptable... whichever you can get a better price for?The Holiday Inn Kings Cross has not been reported on the board yet as a participating hotel, but if you want to avoid it and don't want to risk the chance that it is a possible hotel then find out where the hotel is located and which priceline zone it is located in... you'll then have to take a guess as to the star rating and avoiding bidding that star rating (or lower) in that zone. patbateman Posted June 1, 2006 Author Report Posted June 1, 2006 sorry for the double post - it slipped away.My preferences are:1) i want a 5* in Mayfair-Soho or Bloomsbury-Marble Arch, up to 180 usd1b) Kensington can be added (only one 5* there I think)2) i want a 4* in Mayfair-Soho or Bloomsbury-MA, up to 150 usd2b) Kensington can be added
patbateman Posted June 1, 2006 Author Report Posted June 1, 2006 I believe Holiday Inn Kings Cross is in Bloomsbury.btw. yesterday i tried getting a 5 star in Mayfair-Soho and Bloomsbury-MA for 160 usd. Rejected. But got an counter-offer at 211 usd.does this mean that this is the lowest price the 5* hotels in these areas are willing to go?
patbateman Posted June 1, 2006 Author Report Posted June 1, 2006 I got Millennium Hotel Mayfair for 114 usd/night (tot 413 usd for 3 nights, incl taxes). My bid was 100 usd for at 4* in Mayfair-Soho.Rejected, but with a counteroffer at 114 usd/night.I accepted.
