thehuges Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Am I right that the only 4* property West of the strip is the Rio? I will be playing in the World Series of Poker (held at the Rio) in July and August, and would like to stay there if I could get a good rate. But I wouldn't want to bid and end up somewhere else. Any idea what a good price to bid might be? Cheapest price I've seen for a weeknight on travelaxe is $127.The other (cheaper) choice is the Gold Coast across the street, but I assume priceline doesn't work there, since there are other 3*'s in the area (and anyway the Gold Coast is pretty cheap to begin with - $55 for weekdays, minus 10% AAA discount).Let me know if you have any ideas of getting a good deal here (or if it seems like priceline just isn't the way to go here).thanks...

thehuges Posted May 29, 2006 Author Report Posted May 29, 2006 Dates of your stay?oh yeah, I guess that would ne helpful information ...I think I would like to reserve the Rio for the nights July 30 - August 4 (departing 4th). If I last longer than that in the tournament I won't be worrying about hotel costs.thanks...
thereuare Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 The $127/nite rate you found... is it for these exact dates? All rates i'm seeing at the Rio are much higher than that, and given they are hosting the tournament, i would expect rates to be more in line with what i'm currently seeing (rather than the $127/nite rate you mention). thehuges Posted May 29, 2006 Author Report Posted May 29, 2006 Now that I get back on Travelaxe I'm only seeing $127/night for one of those nights (Aug 3) - the other nights are much higher, as you said. I thought I had seen 127 for each night earlier, but either I read it wrong or it has gone up in the past few days. It looks like priceline is not the way to go for this visit. I know I can get some sort of players discount, so I'll find out what that is and either use that or book the Gold Coast across the street for $50-ish/night for the first few nights of the tournament. Thanks for your help, as always...
