mintchoco Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 My current insurance policy covers liability for sure. I am unsure about LDW/CDW.If I get the LDW/CDW from the insurance company, is it at the same rate as offered to regular customers or do they jack up the price for priceline bids? Even if my insurance company covers LDW/CDW, should I still get it from the car rental company?

mintchoco Posted May 27, 2006 Author Report Posted May 27, 2006 I have not yet made a bid for car rental through Priceline because I am unsure about difference in coverage vs. booking directly from the company. That is the whole reason I'm asking.
thereuare Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 The cost for coverage would be the same as any other customer... but that still doesn't mean it won't be expensive as the insurance is generally perceived to be expensive (of course unless you have an accident :) ) and a high margin revenue stream for the car rental companies. You should talk to your insurance company/agent about what is covered with your existing policy. Often (again, check/confirm the terms) the insurance directly thru the car rental company is 'primary coverage'... meaning if you have an accident then you simply 'walk away' from it and they handle the rest, whereas using your own insurance company (assuming coverage) you are left to deal with the paperwork. As well, insurance thru the car rental company often includes "loss of use" where your own insurance company usually does not.
