AnthonyC Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Hi, I would like to know what $80 or so would get me in miami/south beach for the week of July 4th (07/03/06 to 07/09/06).thanks,Anthony.
thereuare Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Not sure i understand the question... what hotel would you get? what star rating would that get you? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
AnthonyC Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 I wanted know what was available in that price range. Of course I would like as many stars as possible, but having a 3* or 4* isn't really that important. Staying around $80 a night is the top priority. To be more specific, I guess at least a 2* or better for the afore mentioned dates (here it is again: 07/03/06 to 07/09/06).
thereuare Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 So are you looking for a strategy for those dates and ready to start bidding now?Personally i'd be very careful about bidding 2* in the South Beach area as there are a LOT of independently owned properties that participate with Priceline in this zone... small properties which may be a bit over-rated, but i'm sure they're fine with some people. Also, are you looking for Miami Beach or South Beach zones... or just the South Beach zone?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy if you're ready to bid. AnthonyC Posted May 25, 2006 Author Report Posted May 25, 2006 To give you a little bac ground info, a bunch of my friends are already have a hotel they are staying at kind of in the mid point between miami beach and south beach. I think it's a courtyard marriot on washington ave. Anyway, there are a few of us who need accomodations and would like to be in the area.I'm not sure if that hotel falls in the south beach zone or the miami beach zone. If you could provide strategies for both areas that would be greatly apreciated.I have a couple questions about this too: do prices go up as the travel date approaches? Or do they fluctuate wildly? From your question, it seems that buying way in advance doesn't pay.Thanks,Anthony.
thereuare Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 You want to stick with a 2* minimum, $60 maximum, in either South Beach or Miami Beach?Rates can go up or down between now and your stay. I wouldn't read into my post above that you'd be better off waiting, i was just trying to make sure that you were ready to bid (so that we didn't supply a strategy based upon current rates only to have you not bid it right away, then try it 5 weeks from now when rates may have changed). You can read more about "when to bid" in the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Lastly, based upon your post above, are you seeking more than double occupancy for each room? Priceline only guarantees double occupancy, after that it is at the discretion of the hotel (there is a related link on this topic in the PRICELINE FAQ as well).
