thereuare Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 The Radisson may be having booking problems right now as i can't seem to get the Radisson Prince Kuhio to show dates for any date i searched for.Have you not bid the North zone yet?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. lexsea Posted May 23, 2006 Author Report Posted May 23, 2006 After playing with a bunch of dates, the Radisson showed a room available on June 26-27. But for the most part, it is giving me the "rate not available" message... so i'm not sure what's going on.I have tried bidding the North zone, but my bid was a little less.Started 3* Waikiki North $70 - rejectedAdded Diamond Head $75 - rejectedAdded Airport $80 - rejected
thereuare Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 With the prices you quote above $90 may be a tough win.You have two re-bid zones available when bidding 3*. I would try as follows:Select 3* South...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* North...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* South and North...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. lexsea Posted May 23, 2006 Author Report Posted May 23, 2006 I tried that strategy exactly, but still no luck getting a hotel. You said it would be tough to win since the hotels I quoted were over $90. What would you suggest I increase my maximum to?Should I wait a couple of days and then try that strategy again? Maybe I should try my luck with Hotwire.Thank you so much for your help so far. You've been great!!PS. I did use the SavingsBarn
thereuare Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 We stopped at $90 as that is what you had stated as your maximum bid. What is your "next best alternative'? If pricline/hotwire were not an option, where would you stay and how much would it cost? lexsea Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 I guess my next best alternative would be the Park Shore for $145/night. I haven't read really good reviews about the place, so I was hoping for something else.
thereuare Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 So how high would you be willing to bid for an opaque property? If you were willing to go as high as $145 i'd sooner first try for a 4* thru the opaque providers (hoping for the Hawaii Prince in the North zone). Hotwire has some 3* properties between $90-$145, but i would first try to identify them to make sure that they are 'true' 3* properties and that you're comparing apples-to-apples. lexsea Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 Actually, my brother was able to get us a room at the Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki Hotel for $85/night, with his associates rate, but only for the dates 07/05/06-07/07/06.That means we still have one night that we have to look for a hotel - 07/04/06. I'd be willing to bid up to $135 for a 4* hotel. Do you have a strategy you can suggest?I checked out the hotels offered on Hotwire through SavingsBarn.com. I was able to identify one of them as Ohana Islander for $94/night. Can you tell me if you can identify this other one:3 star hotel in Waikiki Central $111/nightHotel Amentities:-Near Beach-Restaurant(s)-Complimentary Breakfast-Pool(s)Thanks!
