I've gone through some of the re-bidding process but have no idea what would be a good starting bid. We would like to stay either Mid-South or Soho, want to be somewhat close to the Empire State Building and we only have 1 night and don't want to have to travel too far.

I'm guessing that you have never been to NYC before as it's a VERY compact city and the ESB should be easy enough to reach from just about any midtown location (so i would recommend including other zones, such as MTE, MTW, and UM/CPS to your bidding).

Let us know your maximum bid and if you want to include the other zones mentioned above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Because my husband is "monney-spending challenged" his highest bid is $150, not even sure if that will get us anything.

No, I've never been to NYC so any suggestions are greatly appreciated. We'll be in DC during the day and then driving into the city that evening for just 1 night. If all the zones are pretty close, that's fine to use all of them in bidding.

Thanks for you help!

I'd recommend you bid MTE, MTW, MTS, and UM/CPS... including the SoHo zone, which also includes Downtown, could take you a bit futher than you'd like to be.

At the 3* level you have one re-bid zone available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

I think I understand, other than the phrase "if rejected add re-bid zone..." what does that mean?

UPDATE: I think I got it, I added Upper West when I had to add a new zone because the highest rated hotel they have is a 2*, is that right?

You can try every 72 hours, but at this point i wouldn't try more than every 3 days or you'll get frustrated very quickly.

I would also find a cancellable back-up in the meantime to ensure that you'll have a place to sleep if Priceline does not come thru for you.
