Great Wines Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 I am attending an event in Boston that is being held at Sheraton Boston Hotel, Aug 17 through 20. We have been offered a rate of $179, the internet rate is $239. Do you think there is a chance of getting a hotel in this area and this quality for less? If so, what strategy would you suggest? I have tried bidding twice at $100, with no luck. I would be fine with being within a mile or two of the Sheraton. Thanks for any advice.
thereuare Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 What is your maximum bid? (i'd assume to save $5 it would not be worth it to stay at a hotel other than where the meeting is being held)I'd assume anywhere within the Copley zone would be ok for your plans? (i think Boston is small enough and the zone not that large) but doublecheck the boundaries to make sure you'd be fine anywhere within the shaded boundaries. You can use our PRICELINE HOTEL MAPS for this area to locate the Sheraton and other hotels nearby in the zone. Great Wines Posted May 15, 2006 Author Report Posted May 15, 2006 I think I would go to $150, above that I would just as soon spend the exta $$ and stay at the Sheraton. I did find the Boston Park Plaza for $151.20 online. That was an economy room with one bed. Also I just checked the Shearton's website and they have a 3rd night free offer, which brings the nightly rate to $159. Do you think I can get a priceline 4* for less than that in mid-August?
thereuare Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 At the 4* level you have three re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Copley...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Seelct 4* Copley and add re-bid zone2...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Seelct 4* Copley and add re-bid zone3...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Seelct 4* Copley and add re-bid zone2 and 3...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $125.Given the length of time before your stay along with your back-up reservation (i'm assuming that "Third Nite Free Offer" is cancellable?) i wouldn't recommend bidding higher than that at this point. If the "Third Nite Free Offer" is not cancellable start with the above and if rejected we'll take it from there. If you need to book direct please use this board's affiliate link to the Sheraton.Good luck... any questions feel free to ask. Great Wines Posted May 15, 2006 Author Report Posted May 15, 2006 Thanks. I will try your strategy. The 3rd night free offer is non-refundable, otherwise I would have booked it as a back-up.I will keep you posted and use the appropriate links.
