Monarch
Please bare with me, I'm new to these boards. I placed a bid on Priceline for 4 nights at $70 per night, in the Bloomsbury/Marylebone area of London. I won on my first bid and got the Thistle Marble Arch. :) Is winning on a first bid, as a newbie unusual? I was very hesitant to bid, but bit the bullet and went ahead. Starting bid - $70No. of rooms - 1No. of nights - 4 (8/28-9/1)Travel Ins - $20 (yeah, I know, but didn't want to take a chance)Sub total- $300Taxes - $59.84Total - $359.84Bid for second half of stay (9/1-9/5)Starting bid - $65, rejectedCounter offer - $882nd $70, rejected (added Mayfair)Counter offer $883rd bid - $73, rejected (added Westminster) Should I go for the $88 since it's covers the weekend? Thanks. rapazfreiburg
With a counter offer of $88, I suspect the hotel's rate including VAT is GBP50. I would therefore go for $81. My calculations are as follows: GBP50 incl VAT / 1.175 = GBP42.55 excl VATGBP42.55 excl VAT * 1.89 (today's conversion rate) = $80.42--> nearest full dollar amount is $81 Link to comment
thereuare
Please start a NEW TOPIC for the remainder of your stay... since this thread now reflects your first win for users to see by scanning the board's topic titles, we'd like to do the same for your second win (once received). As a side comment... do note that the insurance only covers you under specific conditions (mostly health related), so don't expect it to cover you if you simply don't like the hotel you receive or need to cancel the trip 'because we changed our mind'. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
