bluejay Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 HiI plan to spend 3 nights at the end of June in SF. From what I have read, USE seems like an ideal base. I tried 4* USE at $68 - rejectedadded Cathedral Hill - $73 - rejectedadded Civic - $76 - rejectedI then closed the browsertried 4* USE + south SF - $78 - rejectedadded Cathedral Hill - $83 - rejectedadded Civic - $85 - rejectedI stopped for now, just wondering if I should expand my area? Is USE better than USW? The only reason I picked USE is that I read some posts that USW had some iffy areas? Thanks for any tips!

bluejay Posted May 15, 2006 Author Report Posted May 15, 2006 the dates are somewhat flexible...i.e.06/24-06/27which is preferred, or06/21-06/24Thanks
thereuare Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 Have you tried the above for both sets of dates or just your prefered dates? How high are you willing to bid before adding a zone or trying your other dates? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
bluejay Posted May 15, 2006 Author Report Posted May 15, 2006 Well, I would rather add other zones before trying the alternative date. I have about a week in SF, and plan to spend about 3 days on the central coast. I read it was better to go during the week when it would be less busy so I was planning to do that first and finish up the trip in SF.I'd like to spend ~90 max/night, is that too much to hope for? Also willing to settle on 3* hotel as long as it is clean and safe. Will have no car in SF, so would like to be within walking/busing distance to most attractions. Thanks again
thereuare Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 At the 4* level you have three re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* USE...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* USW...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* USE and USW...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $86, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. bluejay Posted May 16, 2006 Author Report Posted May 16, 2006 I tried the strategy exactly as above, and thought I would end up hotel-less as bid after bid was rejected, but on the final bid, it was accepted!$90/night at Prescott Hotel USWThanks for all the tips! :)
