thereuare
Are you looking for a package or to book the airfare and hotel separately? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
frugaltraveler
Looking for flight and 4 star hotel package together. Link to comment
thereuare
There is no bidding on Packages thru Priceline or Hotwire... you enter the criteria and they give you a price. You then choose to accept that price or not; so i'm not sure exactly what help you need.If you want to purchase the hotel and airfare separately then there would be bidding involved, but not on a package product. frugaltraveler
This is very helpful information. Turns out I have booked my flight already and I will try to book a hotel using priceline or hotwire.Which one do you recommend? Link to comment
thereuare
There is no "one is better then the other", it depends upon the situation... is price or having a clue as to the hotel more important to you? What is your expected budget? Are there any amenties you require?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. frugaltraveler
Knowing which hotel is selected is less of an issue as long a 4 star or better.Price is the major factor - Around $200.00 per night. We will take whichever amenities come with the hotel.Thank you again for your help. thereuare
Rates are extremely high for these dates... do you have any type of back-up reservation within your price range? frugaltraveler
No. I have no reservations at this time back-up or otherwise. Please advise on how to proceed... Link to comment
thereuare
Rates are high enough that i think at the moment it will be tough to have a win at $200 or under... we'll suggest a strategy to try, but before doing so, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
frugaltraveler
Yes, Splitting the Priceline Bid is an option. Link to comment
thereuare
So would you want to try splitting the bid first in order to save money (and likely have to switch hotels) or would you rather bid up to your maximum first (and likley pay more but not have to change hotels)? frugaltraveler
Yes, let's try to split the bid first in order to save money. Link to comment
thereuare
Which zones are you bidding... MTE, MTW, UM/CPS? Any other zones acceptable? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment

thereuare
UM/CPS = Upper Midtown / Central Park South Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
frugaltraveler
Yes. These 4 zones would be acceptable and MTW being the most preferable. No other zones would be acceptable at this time. Link to comment
thereuare
I think this is going to be a tough win, but this is how i would proceed...The above is actually only three zones, not four, UM/CPS is only one zone.At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTW...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195.I would bid the above for the following date combinations:9/9-9/129/10-9/139/9-9/119/11-9/13Any questions feel free to ask. frugaltraveler
I have booked the Affinia Manhattan 3* @ MTS for $160.00 per night from 9.08.06 with a check out date of 09.10.06 through Priceline via savingsbarn.I tried numerous times in all Manhattan zones to no avail up to $210.00 for the full 09.08.06-09.13.06 for a 4* and tried splitting many different ways.Tripadvisor gives good feedback on the Affinia so the price and location work for me. I will continue to try for 09.10.06-09.13.06 for a 3* or 4* below $200.00I will keep you posted and great thanks again for all of your help. Link to comment
