I was getting similar counteroffers as with this bid - here's the bidding history:

My method in London now is to do the first bid of each session in a zone as a lowball bid principally to find the counteroffer, and then rebid accordingly. I also thought (Lord knows why) that I would probably get the Hilton Euston again. I should realize that Priceline inventory in London is a huge grab bag.
