Slowly increased failed bids on this one. Was seeking this zone, or Mayfair or Bloomsbury-Marble Arch. Lower bids were consistently getting counteroffers of $98 in this zone and counteroffers of $110 in the Bloomsbury-Marble Arch zone.

The last failed bid I had that included this zone was $87. I also had a failed bid of $90 for Bloomsbury-Marble Arch and Mayfair. Just an expensive time to travel I guess.

The lowest (converted) rate for the Copthorne Tara was $184, so I saved 50% off that. This hotel has mixed reviews, but it appears to be a very short walk from a Tube station, which is very convenient, since I'll arrive at Heathrow with a couple of suitcases and a wife who is 5 months pregnant.

This'll be the first trip to Europe without the ole backpack. Ah, growing up.

I used the savinsbarn link for all my bids.

Congratulations on your win!

You have a kid on the way and 'traveling without a backpack' is the growing up part? :)

Soon you'll start trying to target the 'all suite' properties as they work out a lot better (for us) due to the extra room and the refrigeator to keep milk for the baby.

Thanks for the post and for using the SavingsBarn.com links for your bidding.

Enjoy your stay.

I don't know if it's in every room, but my room at the Copthorne did have a refrigerator in it. The hotel is close to the Kensington High Street station and the room I got was just fine, about on par with the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum.
