Hi,

I have been trying for several weeks every 24 hours with a starting bid of $95.00 and bidding each time as high as $110.00 per night using all my "free rebid non-resort areas" on priceline. I am bidding for 2 rooms "resort" in San Juan, Puerto Rico checking in Tuesday, Jan. 30 and checking out Friday, Feb. 2, 2007. I have not had any luck at all. I have already gotten the airfare through Travelocity"]Travelocity and the cruise is booked and I am worried I now will not be able to get the 2 rooms I need on priceline for our 3 night pre-cruise stay.

I have saw other posts that people have already gotten resort rooms around the dates I am bidding for at $95.00 so I can't understand why all my bids are not accepted at $110.00 a night. Could it be because I want 2 rooms for 3 nights?

For our 2006 cruise, I got the Marriott San Juan Resort on Ashford Ave. 2 rooms for 2 nights at $100.00 per night on my first bid no trouble at all, we checked in March 11, 2006 and checked out March 13, 2006. I booked those way in advance of our trip too, just like I am trying to do now.

I am really nervous because when I look on Travelocity"]Travelocity, Orbitz, etc. for Jan. 30, 2007 / Feb. 2, 2007 it says only 2 hotels are available (both only 2 star) and all the other hotels it says there are no rooms available for those dates.

Can you help me please?

1) Stop bidding every 24 hours

2) Book a cancellable back-up (see our support page for hotel direct links)

3) Don't bid again for at least 3 weeks

It's still very early and you're going to drive yourself nuts if you continue to bid every 24 hours at the same bid amounts (which are not likely very realistic based upon current prices).

Look at this user's PRICELINE SAN JUAN history where their friends have already bid and were successful at $65 (if i recall correctly) while their current bids up to $100 have failed... and their stay is before yours.

Be patient and book a back-up.

Hi,

You are right, bidding every 24 hours and being rejected at the $110.00 price is making me nuts!! I will wait 3 weeks and rebid-thank you for your advice.

Since my many $110.00 bids have already been denied, can you please tell me what price I should start with when I do try to rebid again? Do people get bids accepted when they want to stay 3 nights in a row-or is that considered to many nights for a priceline bid to be accepted? Should I be concerned that Travelocity"]Travelocity, Expedia websights say that there are no available rooms for the dates I am looking for-that seems strange to me that all the hotels would be not available for those dates??

Thank you so very much for your help. I am not only looking for a room for myself but also my neighbor and this trip was my idea so I really need help to "bid the right way/bid the right dollar amounts" in order to find us two nice rooms in San Juan "resort" for those 1-30-07/2-02-07 dates on priceline.

Thanks again, all help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Rates are date specific, so seeing successful bids for dates near the same dates as your own is not necessarily relevant. I have seen successful bids for dates in January '07 but i have also seen rejected bids for that timeframe as well.

This is the tail end of peak season and San Juan usually, (but not so of late), releases rooms closer to check-in date

Bump this thread in 3 weeks and we'll then take a closer look at current rates to determine a bidding strategy. In the meantime find yourself an affordable, cancellable, back-up.
